Baldwin provided transportation and erection services for the construction of the 70 meter turbine tower and 40 meter blade assembly. After years of planning, the structe was assembed and ready for inspections in two weeks.

The attached video shows a speech given by Mark Baldwin during the opening ceremony.

Tower & Blade Transportation

The turbine tower sections were transported by barge. The tower sections, blades and nacelle were unloaded and transported by Baldwin Energy. View a slide show of the photo galleries below by clicking on any of the images.

Site Setup and Storage

Prior to the erection of the turbine the site had to allow for proper storage of 100 meters of tower sections, three 50 meter blades, the turbine nacelle and hub all while leaving room for the assembly of the crane boom.

Nacelle and Blade Lift

All three blades, each at 50 meters in length, are assembled on the ground to the turbine hub and lifted all as one piece. The assembly for an industrial scale turbine can easily exceed 100,000 pounds.
